essay N.1
VALUES: TRUSTWORTHNESS/THANKFUL - APPLIED TO: FROM THE DIARY OF SAMUEL
PEPYS”
In order to compare these two values (trustworthiness and being thankful)
first we have to understand the meaning of both. Trustworthiness is the ability
to be relied on as honest or truthful. And being thankful is basically someone who
is glad that something has happened or something didn’t happen or about someone
or something exist. This story is based or focus on three facts that had an
impact on history. Samuel Pepys is showing his feelings and thoughts about his
experience living these events. Relating the values with Samuel he is someone
who is always thinking about what is happening at the moment and about what can
happen as a consequence of his acts and of others characters acts. If we see his
relation with his wife Samuel is always referring to how completely in love he is
with his wife despite many affairs, and how glad and grateful he is for having her
but overtime some problems are connect and her wife is forced to take control
of him because he has an open sexuality with other women being unfair with her.
If the story is analyze, we may say that the relation between the king and the
diarist is related to a constant battle over funding the navy. The most
important value between being thankful and trustworthiness in the story is
being thankful because even if Samuel never say something like I’m grateful for
or glad about by reading what people deduce that the author is actually thankful
for many things he has. An example is when he says the food was noble and enough
or that he was highly pleased with her wife for making dinner, so he is a man that
easily conform with things. But can’t be forget that even if he has these characteristics,
he didn’t do anything to stop the fire or to help people.
