· FAIRNESS/JUSTICE APPLIED TO: A MODEST PROPOSAL · To understand the relation between the essay a modest proposal and the values fairness and justice the definition of these words must be clear; fairness is to treat or behave without discrimination or favoritism and justice is the quality of being just or the system by which people are judged in courts of law and criminals are punished.
